A teen girl was arrested after bear spray was allegedly discharged towards a police officer and a police dog on Tuesday morning in Saskatoon’s Riversdale neighbourhood.
Police said an officer was patrolling the area of 20th Street West and Avenue F South at around 2:30 a.m. when they saw a woman discharge bear spray towards a male victim.

“The officer activated the vehicle’s emergency equipment and the suspect fled,” police said in a statement.
When a police dog chased the teenage girl, she allegedly discharged bear spray at the officer and the dog “multiple times causing them to suffer from its effects.” The pursuing officer deployed a conducted-energy weapon and the dog was used to help apprehend the girl. Police said the 16-year-old was injured by the animal, and allegedly kicked it in the head during the fight.
“She was arrested and transported to hospital for treatment of injuries consistent with a dog bite where she proceeded to provide a false identity to staff,” said police.
The teen has been charged with assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer with a weapon, injuring a law-enforcement animal, fraudulent personation, and breaching court-imposed conditions, police said.
Four arrested after stolen vehicle recovered
Two men and two women were arrested after police recovered a stolen vehicle in Saskatoon’s Westmount neighbourhood on Monday evening.
Police said officers were alerted to the location of a reported stolen vehicle by a third-party GPS monitoring service shortly before 9 p.m.
When officers arrived in the 1400 block of 22nd Street West, they reportedly saw the stolen vehicle running in a parking lot with people inside. Police arrested all four occupants without incident, and found a sawed-off rifle during a subsequent search of the vehicle.
Two men, ages 24 and 34, and two women, ages 29 and 36, were charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and several firearms-related offences, according to police.
Pedestrian injured in crash on Circle Drive on Monday night
A man was injured on Monday night while walking across Circle Drive “outside of a crosswalk area.”
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, officers were called to the area of Circle and Avenue C North just before midnight after getting a report that a vehicle had collided with a pedestrian.
“Upon arrival, one adult male was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” the police force said in a statement.
“Continued investigation determined that the pedestrian was struck by a westbound vehicle when crossing Circle Drive outside of a crosswalk area.
Westbound traffic was restricted as officers investigated the crash, but the road has since reopened to traffic.
No charges or tickets were issued as a result of the crash, a police spokesperson noted.
