“Rider Retro” will be the theme for the Roughrider Foundation Winter Classic event in 2026.
The foundation said in a news release on Dec. 8 that tickets are now on sale for the annual charity event on Jan. 31 next year at Merlis Belsher Place in Saskatoon.
The foundation said that the rink will be “transformed into a throwback hockey night” featuring vintage jerseys for the game.

Proceeds from the event go toward Roughrider Foundation’s Win with Wellness presentation series, which provides youth across the province access to mental wellness presentations led by Roughrider player ambassadors.
The teams will be familiar to Winter Classic fans: Riders kicker Brett Lauther will captain Team Lauther, with slotback Kian Schaffer-Baker as coach, and Team Getzlaf, led by former Rider and two-time Grey Cup champion Chris Getzlaf, will be coached by Riders receiver Ajou Ajou.
Additional roster announcements will be made close to the game, the foundation said. In previous years a handful of former National Hockey League players also laced upo their skates for the game.
Several members of the 2025 Grey Cup championship Riders team will be there, as well as Rider alumni.
Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. and ticket prices start at $15 through Ticketmaster.
