RPS said the caller told police the man got into a waiting vehicle before it drove away. While officers were on route, they received a report that a business in the same area had been robbed of cash and cigarettes at gunpoint.
Police found the suspect vehicle near 8th Avenue North and Ottawa Place and said they attempted to stop it but it sped away. RPS said the officers did not follow the vehicle but a short distance away, the driver lost control and ended up stuck on the sidewalk.
RPS said that before the officers arrived, a passenger ran away, and they then arrested the driver. The man who ran away was then found hiding in a nearby yard. A search of the suspect vehicle turned up a firearm, cash and cigarettes, police said.
