The holiday season is in full swing in Estevan, and thanks to the incredible generosity of the community, the Estevan Angel Tree and Community Hamper program is making a big impact once again.
Cindy Brenner, one of the organizers, says donations have been “fantastic” this year.
“We got front and center when you first come into Walmart, and several other businesses also set up trees for us. It’s been really good,” she shared.

The program has seen strong support from local organizations and volunteers.
High school students pitched in, churches and oil wives contributed, and even family and friends stepped up to help.
“It’s nice to see the young faces,” Brenner said, noting that schools across the community have been outstanding in their efforts, from toy drives to packing the cruiser.
The Angel Tree toy store opens on Dec. 22, giving parents the chance to shop for gifts for their children.
Later in the week, the team will distribute community hampers filled with groceries, an essential support during a time when food prices are high.
“We’re a nonprofit organization, and without the support of the community, this would not be possible,” Brenner emphasized.

This year, the numbers are significant — around 450 children will receive gifts, and approximately 350 hampers will be handed out.
Brenner notes that demand continues to rise each year, reflecting the growing challenges families face with the cost of living.
Families who benefit from the program often express heartfelt gratitude. “They’re just so happy about the burden it takes off them at this time of year,” Brenner said.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of five volunteers works tirelessly to make it all happen: Cindy Brenner, Jolie Bayda, Marsha Poole, Chelsea Istace, and Debbie Wade.
“This program is so dear to all of us,” Brenner explained. “It’s overwhelming sometimes, but when it all comes together, it’s just perfect.”
On behalf of all volunteers, Brenner offered a sincere thank you: “We would not be able to do this without any of you, and we look forward to your support in the years ahead.”
