Winnipeg Maples Marauders earned a bronze medal with a 65-51 victory over the Calgary Sir Winston Churchill Bulldogs.
Twelve high school basketball teams had high hopes when the tournament tipped off Thursday in Saskatoon, with six teams from the province competing: Regina’s Martin Collegiate and Prince Albert’s Carlton Comprehensive, along with Saskatoon schools St. Joseph, Holy Cross, Walter Murray Collegiate, and host Bedford Road Collegiate.
Hopes for a local winner ended in the quarterfinals Friday, when Holy Cross Crusaders fell 73-70 to Winnipeg Maples, and 2024 champs Walter Murray Marauders lost to Calgary Sir Winston Churchill 64-44, leaving two Manitoba and two Alberta teams to battle it out until the end.
