A man and a woman are facing charges after they allegedly tried to evade police in a high-speed chase in Regina’s North Central neighbourhood Monday night.
Regina Police Service (RPS) said in a news release on Jan. 13 that officers spotted a vehicle being driven “in a suspicious manner” in the area of 7th Avenue and Elphinestone Street at about 10:25 p.m.

When police tried to stop the vehicle, it fled at a “high rate of speed, disregarding traffic signs and signals,” RPS said.
“The Aerial Support Unit (ASU) monitored the vehicle as it briefly travelled outside the city before returning,” noted the police.
A tire deflation device slowed down the vehicle, but the driver kept disregarding traffic controls.
The man and woman left the vehicle and were picked up by a second vehicle, and officers said they found a shotgun barrel and .22 calibre ammunition inside the first vehicle.
Police attempted using another deflation device on the second vehicle. After the man ran away, he was caught by a police dog. He was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries “consistent with a dog bite,” RPS said.
A 29-year-old woman was charged with attempting to obstruct justice and operating a conveyance dangerous to public. She is scheduled to appear in court in Regina on Feb. 18.
A 30-year-old man faces charges of operate a conveyance dangerous to public and flight from a peace officer as well as three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order. He appeared in court on Jan. 13.
