Saskatoon police were busy responding three incidents involving machetes on Monday night and Tuesday morning, along with a shooting.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, three men were injured in three separate assaults involving machetes within several hours of each other, followed by a shooting about an hour later. Police do not believe the incidents were connected.

Two of the cases involved suspects “forcibly entering homes and assaulting the victims with a machete,” the police force said in a statement.
In the first incident, police said officers were called to the 3100 block of Laurier Drive at around 8:20 p.m. on Monday. At the scene, police said the officers found a 33-year-old man with “serious but non life-threatening injuries.”
Police said the victim reported that he inside an apartment when three men entered and allegedly assaulted him with a machete. The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Then, at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday, police were called to a home in the 1600 block of 22nd Street West.
“A male reported that 6-7 persons entered his suite and assaulted him with a machete,” said the police force.
The 46-year-old-victim was taken to hospital to be treated for “serious but non life-threatening injuries,” police noted.

Taxi driver allegedly assaulted assaulted by man armed with machete
A 41-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with possessing weapons and drugs after a report of an assault on Monday night in the city’s Eastview neighbourhood.
Police said officers were called to the 2200 block of Easthill at about 11:15 p.m.
A taxi driver reported he arrived at the address when two people left the house and pushed him. One of the people was armed with a machete, said police in a statement.
“Officers located several people inside the home including the 41 year old man. He was found to be in possession of two knives, a collapsible baton, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia,” said police.
The alleged attacker is now facing charges including thee counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and breach of probation.
The victim was not injured, added police.
Victim says he was shot during mugging in alley on 22nd Street West
Police were called to St. Paul’s Hospital at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday after a man arrived for treatment of a gunshot wound.
“He was approached by an unknown man in an alley way behind the 2200 block of 22nd Street West,” police said in a statement.
“The male demanded cash, stole the victim’s wallet and shot the victim before fleeing. The victim received a non life-threatening injury.”
Police said the suspect was described as a man in his 30s, roughly six-foot-two in height, weighing around 230 pounds. During the alleged attack, the perpetrator was wearing jeans, a ball cap and a blue hoodie.
Anyone with information on the shooting was encouraged to make a report to police or Crime Stoppers.
Man charged with seven drug- and weapons-related offences
A 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged with drug- and weapons-related offences after police executed a search warrant at a business in the 700 block of Idylwyld Drive North on Saturday night.
At around 11 p.m. on January 24, 2026, members of the Guns and Gangs Unit, with the help of the Tactical Support Unit, they seized .40 calibre handgun, .40 calibre ammunition, 9 millimetre ammunition, .233 ammunition, 2,700 illegal cigarettes, 15.42 grams of fentanyl, 0.60 grams of cocaine and 4.0 grams of methamphetamine, said police in a statement.
A 43-year-old woman was also arrested on outstanding warrants, noted police.
