A traffic stop by Corman Park police led to a hefty fine and a licence suspension for a novice driver.
In a post on social media, the police force said an officer spotted a vehicle speeding on Highway 16, heading westbound as it was exiting Saskatoon, just before midnight on Saturday.

The officer’s radar clocked it as travelling at 162 km/h, police noted.
At the time, police said Highway 16 was covered in thick, heavy fog.
According to police, the driver made multiple attempts to pass other drivers travelling along the roadway despite the low-visibility conditions.
Police said the novice driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days, and their vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The driver was also issued an $820 speeding ticket.
“Please be considerate, slow down, and drive at most, the speed limit as it is there for a reason,” the police force said in a statement.
“In most cases, speeding saves seconds in total driving time. You are not only risking your own life, but the lives and safety of countless others on the road.”
The traffic stop on Saturday followed another noteworthy stop by police in Corman Park earlier this month.
On Feb. 1, an officer pulled over a dangerous semi on Highway 11. According to police, the semi had broken windows on both sides, which were covered with duct tape. The driver’s side mirror was also held together with tape, police said, and a severely damaged windshield was obstructing the driver’s view.
South West Bulk Express INC announced later that week that the driver of that semi is no longer employed by the company.
