A Saskatchewan water park that’s been closed for several years is set to be demolished.
The Kenosee Superslides building and other assets at the water park are set to be removed in February, according to a statement from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Parks, Culture, and Sport.

The ministry said the work is expected to be completed this spring.
Jan Armstrong, owner of Kenosee Superslides, declined to comment.
The water park is located in Moose Mountain Provincial Park.
“When the lease was not renewed, the site was abandoned,” the ministry said. “As such the government will take measures to clear the land.”
Ashlyn George, the travel writer and blogger behind The Lost Girl’s Guide to Finding the World, said she has great memories from when she visited the park.
“It is a loss, and I realize there’s a lot of upkeep to it, and it’s been closed the last few years,” she said. “But it’s going to be sad to see it go.”
Hitting the park’s waterslides was on George’s bucket list, and she’s glad she crossed it off before its closure.
The park’s operations ended back in 2020 after a dispute over the safety of the slides.
“The facility no longer met current health and safety standards and closed when they was unable to obtain a license from the Saskatchewan Health Authority,” said the ministry. “Since operations stopped, the facility has deteriorated and is a significant public safety risk.”
In an interview in August of 2020, Armstrong said he had received information indicating the province had structural concerns about the slides. Armstrong said the claim was unfounded, saying a team of staff members monitored the condition of the slides closely.
“We were one of the safest water parks in the country,” he said at the time.

In 2017, a teen visiting the water park had to go to the emergency room after slicing her foot while going down a slide.
“Once demolition is complete and the area is cleared, the Ministry will assess future opportunities for the site to ensure the land is used in a way that benefits park visitors,” the provincial government noted.
Silverado Demolition Operations Inc. has been contracted to demolish the Kenosee Superslides site at Moose Mountain Provincial Park, according to an order in council on the Government of Saskatchewan website.
The order said the demolition should not exceed $227,052.00.
