A 44-year-old man from Theodore has been charged with assaulting a police officer during a traffic stop in Regina on Saturday.
Regina Police Service (RPS) said in a news release on March 9 that an officer on patrol stopped the man in the 600 block of 6th Avenue East on March 7 around 2:40 p.m. after identifying the vehicle he was driving was unregistered.
Police said the man refused to identify himself before punching the officer twice. RPS said the officer tried to use his Taser but it was not effective and after a short struggle, the man was arrested
The man has been charged with assaulting a police officer, assault with the intent to resist arrest and obstructing a police officer and appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Monday.
