A man is facing charges of aggravated assault and forcible confinement after an incident on Shoal Lake Cree Nation.
Officers with Carrot River RCMP responded immediately to a report of a shooting on the First Nations community around 5:15 a.m. on Tues, March 10, according to a police news release.

The release said local EMS also responded and an injured man was found in a vehicle on Highway 55. He was taken to hospital by EMS with serious injuries.
Police investigation determined there was an altercation between two men at a residence in the community. During the fight, a firearm was shot and one of the men was hurt.
The injured man left the home but the other man kept a woman from leaving the residence. The suspect eventually left the residence. The woman did not report any injuries.
Later that day, RCMP officers arrested a man on Shoal Lake Cree Nation. A sawed-off firearm was found and seized by police, according to the release.
A 34-year-old man from Red Earth Cree Nation is facing nine charges, including aggravated assault, forcible confinement, discharging a firearm with intent and assault with a weapon.
The man appeared in court in Nipawin on Wed, March 11. Carrot River RCMP said in the release that they continue to investigate.
