Authorities are investigating a suspicious death on a First Nation in northern Saskatchewan.
On March 16, Beauval RCMP received a report that a woman was being treated for serious injuries in hospital.
The woman, a 51-year-old from Canoe Lake Cree First Nation, died of her injuries on March 17.

The woman’s family has been notified and Saskatchewan RCMP’s homicide investigation unit – formerly Saskatchewan RCMP’s major crimes unit – is now investigating the incident, assisted by North Battleford forensic identification services, the North Battleford serious crimes unit and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
Mounties say initial investigation suggests the woman’s death is suspicious. No further information is available at this time while investigation remains active and ongoing, police said in a release on Wednesday, though updates will be provided when possible. RCMP said the public will be notified if an imminent risk to public safety is found.
Anyone with information is asked to call 310-RCMP or contact Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
An increased police presence is expected in Canoe Lake Cree First Nation at this time, according to investigators.
