Spring cleaning is underway on Regina’s roads.
The city said the sweep happens in two phases over a period of about 10 weeks, depending on the weather. The first phase will see city crews cleaning boulevards and major roads like Albert Street and Lewvan Drive, the city said, along with high-density areas including Cathedral, the city’s downtown core, Harbour Landing and the area around the Regina General Hospital.

“During this phase, crews will work up to 20 hours a day, five days a week,” the city said in a statement.
“The second phase will begin in late April and will focus on residential streets.”
During the second phase, the city said residents will need to move their vehicles out of designated no-parking zones in order to avoid a $120 ticket. Vehicles left in areas where sweeping is underway could also be towed to give workers room to clear the full width of the road, the city noted.
The city advised residents to download Regina’s Sweep&Plow app to see when the work will begin in their area, or visit the city’s website to learn when vehicles must be moved. Signs will also be posted to indicate no-parking areas before the crews arrive, the city said.
“Street sweeping can create dust that makes it harder to see. Residents should close their windows and use sidewalks away from the work when possible,” the city noted.
“If you see sweeping equipment, slow down, leave plenty of space and drive carefully.”
