A report that a man was trying to break into a home led police to lay weapons charges against a 27-year-old on Thursday.
Regina Police Service officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of Robinson Street around 6:10 p.m. after a man was allegedly trying to break in through the back door.

The person who made the report told police that when the man was addressed, they had threatened the resident with a weapon.
Officers learned the suspects were travelling north in an alley east of Retallack Street.
“Officers located two individuals on foot in the 1200 block of Rae Street and issued verbal commands. Both individuals complied with police direction,” police said in a news release.
Through investigation, officers determined one person was not involved. That person was released, while the other was arrested around 6:50 p.m.
Police seized a rifle receiver and a knife from the 27-year-old man who was arrested. He has been charged with assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and failure to comply with a probation order.
He appeared in Regina Provincial Court on April 10.
Two charged in break and enter investigation
Arrests have been made in a break and enter that left two people injured, according to Regina police.
In a release on Fri, April 10, police said two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Around 4:15 p.m. on April 2, police responded to the 2500 block of Dewdney Avenue after receiving a report about the situation. Two people were found with head injuries when officers arrived, who were treated on scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
A man in a vehicle who matched the suspect description from the incident, according to police, was found by officers a little while later around 1st Avenue North and Edward Street.
The suspect had a gun and was arrested around 5:10 a.m.
Officers then seized a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition after a subsequent search.
Police said a second suspect was found entering a business one week later on April 9, in the 900 block of Albert Street. He was also arrested.
A 35-year-old man and a 29-year-old man have both been arrested. The 35-year-old is facing seven charges while the 29-year-old faces four. Both have been charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon and armed robbery using a restricted or prohibited firearm.
The 35-year-old appeared in Regina Provincial Court on April 2, while the second suspect made his first appearance on April 10.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
