Saskatchewan is investing in urban roads that connect to major highways, with projects planned in communities across the province, including Prince Albert and North Battleford.
Highways Minister Kim Gartner said the work is aimed at improving key transportation links for local traffic and supporting the province’s export-driven economy.

“Once completed, these projects will improve key transportation links, which benefits local traffic, commuters and keeps the provincial highway network better connected to move our export-based economy and support Saskatchewan’s quality of life,” Gartner stated.
In North Battleford, Territorial Drive on the city’s east side will be widened and repaved between Highway 16 and just north of Airport Road. The province is contributing $747,000 toward the project, with the city adding $243,000 and managing construction.
In Prince Albert, $180,000 will go toward improving about 800 metres of 15th Street East, or Highway 302, complementing a separate ministry-funded project valued at more than $13 million along the same corridor.
Swift Current will see a combined $6.9 million invested in two projects, including the rehabilitation of 8.5 kilometres of roads such as ramps connecting to the Trans-Canada Highway and nearby service roads. Another 5.4 kilometres of ministry-managed roads will also be upgraded.
In Estevan, about $400,000 will be spent resurfacing a portion of Highway 47.
Additional funding will support work in communities including Meadow Lake, Lloydminster, Saskatoon, Regina and Yorkton, as well as a cost-shared regional transportation study in Humboldt.
Most projects are expected to begin in late spring or mid-May and wrap up by late fall, depending on weather.
