Once again, Saskatoon residents have answered the call to help ensure fewer people go hungry in the city.
On Thursday, Rock 102’s Stuff the Bus campaign filled two transit buses, collecting a total of 4,909 pounds of food and $65,626 for Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre (SFBLC).
With another incredible Stuff the Bus in the books, food bank executive director Laurie O’Connor shared her gratitude for the overwhelming support.
“Days like today are a powerful reminder of the compassion that exists in our community. Every donation – large or small – plays a meaningful role and shows someone choosing to care for their neighbours,” O’Connor said.
“We are so grateful to every single person who showed up and gave so generously. Your support means families right here at home will have access to the nutritious food they need — and that means everything to us.”

The cost of living was named a top concern among Saskatchewan residents in a recent Angus Reid poll. The same survey showed 44 per cent of respondents reported being worse off financially than they were last year.
According to the food bank, 40 per cent of the people served each month are children. O’Connor said this helps ensure families have access to the food they need – not just today, but in the days and weeks ahead.
The annual event started in 2005 when Eroca Pellerin, a Saskatoon Transit operator, decided to do something to help those in need. She approached Saskatoon Transit with the idea and Stuff the Bus was born. Since then, the annual event has brought in more than 533,111 pounds of food donations and raised more than $685,682 to help fight hunger in the community.
Last year’s event brought in 16,111 pounds of food and raised a record-breaking $148,652.
Rock 102 is the sister station to 650 CKOM.
