It’s been a long and winding road to get to a second Costco location in Regina, but it appears more free samples are ahead for the Queen City.

This development followed a $6-million commercial building permit being issued on April 17 for a foundation at 8701 Dewdney Avenue – the same address in the original discretionary use application.
That application was approved by the city in August 2024. However, the wholesale giant later released that location citing costs, according to a report by city administration. Instead, another location in the Global Transportation Hub was being considered.
In May 2025, Costco was lured back to the Dewdney site by a $6.7 million incentive agreement. The money, coming out of the city’s land development reserve, is to be repaid from the warehouse store’s property taxes.
The company will also have to pay it back if it does not meet construction timelines.
The 2025 city report said the existing Costco in the east side Aurora development attracts two million customers each year.
