A 41-year-old man from Wilkie is facing charges after RCMP officers recovered copper wire that was allegedly stolen from a grain elevator.
The Mounties said officers made the discovery on Saturday during a raid of a home in Wilkie as part of a drug trafficking investigation. According to police, officers seized methamphetamine and two guns, along with “a large amount of copper wire” that was allegedly taken from a grain elevator earlier this month, resulting in “significant damages.”

Police said the man is facing charges of breaking and entering, mischief over $5,0000 and theft over $5,000 related to the alleged copper wire theft, along with charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unlicensed possession of a firearm with ammunition and breaching conditions of a release order.
He appeared in court in North Battleford on Monday, the Mounties noted.
