“Information received indicated a student had made comments about bringing a firearm to the school,” the police force said in a statement.
“Officers launched an investigation and were able to identify and locate the suspect. The youth was arrested without incident.”
Police said the teenager has been charged with uttering threats, and is expected to appear in court on Thursday morning.
Additionally, police said a 38-year-old man “who cannot be named because it would identify the youth” was charged with careless storage of a firearm in connection with the investigation into the alleged threat. He’s expected to appear in Regina Provincial Court next month.
A message from the school’s administration indicated staff were co-operating with the police investigation, and said parents and guardians would be notified if additional safety precautions were put in place.
