The Kinsmen Foundation is warning its donors to be on the lookout for suspicious messages after a “cyber incident.”
According to the foundation, the unauthorized access to its systems may have compromised the contact information and email addresses of some donors. The foundation said it is currently in the process of contacting the individuals who may have been impacted.

“The incident has been contained and our regular operations and services were not affected,” the foundation said in a statement.
“We immediately notified law enforcement and have engaged third-party experts to support us in a detailed investigation of the incident, which is currently ongoing.”
A spokesperson for the foundation added that credit card and cheque processing systems used during TeleMiracle, the foundation’s major annual fundraiser, were not affected by the breach, and no funds were lost.
“We ask that you remain vigilant of suspicious emails claiming to be from Kinsmen / TeleMiracle asking for user credentials or to click on links,” the foundation said.
“Any notifications to those who may have been impacted about this incident will be sent from Cyberscout (A TransUnion Company) on behalf of the Kinsmen Foundation.”
The foundation noted that it will not ask individuals for payment to determine if they have been affected by the incident, nor will Cyberscout.
“We thank the Saskatchewan community for their support and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” the foundation added.
