Regina residents will have a cure for the summertime blues next week as the city’s outdoor pools open for the season.
The city says its Wascana Pool will open on Tuesday, June 9, while the Buffalo Meadows, Maple Leaf, Massey and Regent pools are set to open on Thursday, June 11, though those dates may change if the weather doesn’t co-operate.

“Outdoor pools have something for everyone – swimming lessons, leisure swims and dedicated swim times for preschoolers, teens and families,” Diana Burton, Regina’s director of recreation and cultural services, said in a statement.
The City of Regina said programs like the family swim, toonie teen swim and adapted leisure swim are returning this summer, along with swimming lessons for kids of all ages.
The Wascana Pool will host late-night swims on August 6 and 13 this year, the city noted, along with themed events like Glow Night on Aug. 20 and a movie night on Aug. 27.
Drop-in admission to the city’s outdoor pools runs $7.50 for adults, $5.16 for teens 13 to 18, $3.52 for kids aged two to 12 and $5.86 for seniors over 65. Family passes and bulk admissions are also available.
