An inmate at the Regina Correctional Centre died on Monday, the third inmate from that jail to die in the past eight months.
A 37-year-old man who was serving time at the facility was declared dead on June 8 at the General Hospital in Regina.

According to a release from the province, an inmate was found in medical distress at his living unit in the facility around 4:30 p.m. on June 8.
“Corrections staff and EMS initiated life saving measures. The inmate was transported to the hospital via EMS. Hospital staff declared the male deceased at 5:59 p.m.,” the release continued.
According to the release, no foul play is currently suspected.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service has been notified and the incident is being investigated. An internal investigation will be conducted by Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Community Safety, as well.
“Next of kin have been notified,” the release stated.
This is the third Regina Correctional Centre inmate death since November 2025. That month, a 39-year-old inmate at the same facility was found unresponsive in his cell and declared dead by paramedics. Another Regina Correctional Centre inmate had been taken to the Pasqua Hospital on Oct. 27 due to pre-existing health conditions, where he died on Nov. 1, 2025.
