Traffic restrictions near Market Mall, in Saskatoon’s Eastview neighbourhood, have been lifted as police continue to investigate a shooting that happened early on Thursday morning.
According to police, officers were called to the 10 block of Sturby Place at around 4:45 a.m. where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police said the man’s injuries were serious, but were not believed to be life-threatening. He was transported to hospital for treatment.
While the victim was found on Sturby Place, police said the traffic restrictions were put in place “in the area of Louise Street and McEown Avenue,” adjacent to Market Mall. Those restrictions were lifted shortly before 11 a.m.
Police said in an afternoon statement that the shooting is believed to have occurred in the area of the 2900 block of Louise Street East.
Walking around the police tape, neighbour Lee Shepherd said he doesn’t have any concerns about the area where he lives.
“I doubt that it’s local activity. I imagine it’s a gang situation,” he said. “We don’t have this kind of action very often.”

Nazmun Nahar lives near Sturby Place. She said she didn’t hear any sirens on Thursday morning, but said it’s common to see two or three police cars in the area every day.
“I thought this is just (a) normal visit,” Nahar said.
She said she only realized the incident was serious after she saw the yellow police tape during her morning walk.
“Saskatoon Police are continuing to investigate,” the police force noted.
