It has been eight long years since Ashley Morin went missing from North Battleford, and her family is no closer to answers than they were on July 10, 2018, when the 31-year old’s disappearance was first reported.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, Morin’s disappearance is being treated as a homicide by investigators with the RCMP’s Historical Case Unit, and the case is still active.

Few specific details have emerged since Morin, who is from Ahtahkakoop First Nation, disappeared, but investigators believe multiple people may have been involved.
As part of the investigation, officers with the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team and the Historical Case Unit conducted a search of the North Saskatchewan River in the Battlefords area a year ago.

The anniversary prompted a renewed call for people with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
“Eight years is a long time to carry the weight of what happened to Ashley. We believe there are people who know the truth, and we are asking them to come forward now,” inspector Ashley St. Germaine, acting officer in charge of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Branch said in the statement.
At an event at the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations headquarters held five months after Morin’s disappearance, her uncle, Eugene Arcand, described the woman as a strong athlete, who was always ready to help her family.
“She lit up a room — and even though Ashley didn’t speak very much, you always felt her kind presence,” he said.
Anyone with information on Morin’s disappearance was asked to call the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Historical Case Unit or their local police force.
