The Regina Police Service has announced charges against a 35 year-old man following an incident involving the discharge of a crossbow.
According to a release, in the early hours of July 7, police responded to a call at a residence in the 800 block of Elphinstone Street, that a man was threatening occupants and had discharged the weapon inside.

Two occupants of the residence — a woman and a boy — were evacuated safely.
An altercation took place between responding officers and the man, police said, during which two officers discharged their firearms. The man was injured and transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the altercation, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is conducting an investigation “into the officer-involved, non-fatal shooting aspect of the incident.” SIRT investigates all serious incidents in Saskatchewan that involve police officers.
According to the release, the man pointed a crossbow at two officers. He has been charged with assault of a peace officer with a weapon and uttering threats.
The man will make his first appearance on the charges in Regina Provincial Court on July 23.
