Police say the 50-year-old driver involved in Saskatoon’s latest overpass strike has received several tickets in relation to the crash.
According to police, the collision on Friday afternoon involved a semi-truck towing a trailer and a grain bin southbound on Idylwyld Drive. Police said the driver “failed to heed to the height restrictions” and hit the 51st Street overpass.

On Monday morning, Saskatoon police said the driver was given a ticket for driving without due care and attention. Police said the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol handed the driver three additional tickets for failing to complete a pre-trip inspection, an over height load and failing to clear a structure.
Police did not name the driver involved in the incident.

City solicitor Cindy Yelland said Saskatoon will be seeking to obtain relevant information from the police, which will inform a decision about potentially laying charges under The Traffic Bylaw.
Friday’s incident marked the sixth overpass collision in Saskatchewan this year, and the fifth in Saskatoon. All of the previous collisions occurred in March.

The City of Saskatoon has laid charges in connection with two previous overpass strikes.
The city has charged KeyLee Contracting Ltd. in Martensville and a driver for damaging city infrastructure in relation to an incident involving a crash at the 108th Street over Circle Drive overpass on March 11.
The case is scheduled for plea on August 19 in bylaw court and, according to the city, a claim will be made for damages with respect to the incident.
The city is also working to recover costs from a March 5 incident when a semi hauling a large excavator on a flatbed on Highway 11 collided with an overpass on Circle Drive at the intersection with Highway 16.
The city has made a claim for $238,389.53 against Regina-based Bowline Logistics in connection with the overpass strike.
On July 8, Bowline Logistics pleaded not guilty to a charge of damaging city infrastructure in Saskatoon bylaw court. A trial date has been set for Sept. 17.
The driver in the incident, identified as Michael Shaine Lukiw, from Alberta, was fined $11,200 in June after pleading guilty to damaging city infrastructure.
