A 27-year-old man, suspected of assaulting a woman in Regina, was injured in a fight after a man intervened.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers got a report of an assault in progress on Cameron Street at around 1 a.m. on Sunday. When they arrived, they found an injured man lying in the street.

“The investigation revealed that the suspect had allegedly assaulted the female victim before being confronted by an adult male who intervened,” the police force said in a statement.
“An altercation then occurred between the two males, resulting in the suspect sustaining injuries.”
The suspect was taken to a local hospital for an assessment, and police said officers also found a pipe that had been used as a weapon during the incident.
The 27-year-old man is now facing charges of sexual assault with a weapon and assault with a weapon, police said. He made his first court appearance on Monday morning.
Man charged following machete attack
A 37-year-old man has been charged after allegedly attacking another man with a machete during an attempted robbery.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers responded to a call in the 1000 block of Angus Street on Saturday afternoon.
Police said they found an injured man who reported that had been attacked by a man with a machete who attempted to steal his bicycle before assaulting him.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was arrested at a nearby home, and police said a machete was found. The man was charged with aggravated assault and robbery.
