Mounties search for possible second victim after shooting on Highway 165

RCMP officers are searching for a possible second victim after a shooting on a Saskatchewan highway on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, officers got a report of an injured man in a rural area between Pinehouse and La Ronge at around 1:45 p.m.

“Investigation determined an interaction occurred between the occupants of a white truck and the occupants of a grey truck on Highway #165,” the RCMP said in a statement.

“During the interaction, a firearm was discharged, injuring the driver of the white truck. The injured driver was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious, but non-life-threatening, in nature.”

The RCMP said an investigation indicated there may be a second individual who was hurt during the incident, and police are working to track them down “to confirm their well-being.”

Anyone with information on the shooting, or about the second potential victim, was encouraged to contact the RCMP or make a report anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

“If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, we will notify the public,” the Mounties added.
