Saskatchewan’s hunters are getting ready to head back into the wild.
The Government of Saskatchewan is reminding hunters to prepare for the upcoming season.

Darlene Rowden, Saskatchewan’s environment minister, said the province “continues to offer outstanding hunting experiences for residents and visitors alike,” with plenty of opportunities for both seasoned hunters and first-time participants.
She said everyone is encouraged to plan ahead, know the rules and help conserve wildlife in the province for future generations.
Regular hunting licences and big-game draw licences will be available for purchase on Saturday.
Licences can be purchased online through the hunting, angling and trapping licence system, in person at Government of Saskatchewan field offices or from hunting licence issuers, or by phone with a credit card. The province noted that hunters will need their hunting, angling and trapping licence identification number or another identification number previously added to their account.
The provincial government noted that about 85 per cent of the land in southern Saskatchewan is privately owned or controlled, which requires hunters to obtain permission from the landowner or occupant before entering or hunting. Permission can be obtained in writing, verbally or through signage and can be requested and granted in person, over the phone or electronically.
Hunters were also encouraged to get a copy of the 2026-27 Saskatchewan Hunters Guide, which has important information for hunters to know before the start of the season. The guide compiles details like seasonal dates, licence options and fees, changes to know for the upcoming hunting season and wildlife management updates.
The province also noted that a new fisheries habitat certificate has been introduced this year, though those who buy both a hunting and angling licence will only require one habitat certificate, the guide noted.
As well, beginning this fall, hunters who have not submitted the required hunter harvest survey will face a $15 fee when purchasing their next hunting licence for the year.
The guide can be found online or in print at Government of Saskatchewan field offices that have front-counter service, select retailers and at some provincial parks. Hunters were also encouraged to review the province’s fact sheet about hunting permission on private land.
Online, hunters can find several provincial resources to prepare for the season, including information on chronic wasting disease and various publications, guides and regulatory information.
