On Monday, RCMP said the dead man was 19-year-old Silvino Grenier from Sandy Bay, and his family had been notified.
RCMP also said that Grenier had been in “an altercation with multiple individuals” at the home before he died.
Police are still looking for a dark-coloured blue or black van or SUV that may have a dent on the driver’s side back rim. RCMP said the vehicle is “potentially connected” to the incident.
Anyone with information about a vehicle matching the description, or who may have seen it driving in Sandy Bay, is urged to contact RCMP immediately. Police advised that if spotted the vehicle should not be approached as its occupants are considered armed and dangerous.
HIU officers are asking anyone who lives in in the Sandy Bay area to check their home security cameras and doorbell cameras between the hours of 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Aug. 16, as they may have captured suspicious activity or the vehicle.
On Monday, RCMP also said the increased police presence in the Sandy Bay area would continue. More information will be shared as it becomes available, RCMP said, and if an imminent risk to public safety is identified, the public would be notified.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP, their local police service or to inform Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at saskcrimestoppers.com.
