A Swift Current man pleaded guilty this week after assaulting a person with a frozen pizza earlier this summer.
On July 6, 34-year-old Cortez Johnson assaulted a person by hitting them with a frozen pizza. The parties were known to one another, and Johnson was significantly intoxicated at the time.

Johnson attended Swift Current Provincial Court on Wednesday and entered a guilty plea to the lesser included charge of assault. He received a 12-month suspended sentence.
The 34-year-old was also given a year of probation, ordered to have no contact with the complainant, and is required to comply with orders to participate in addictions programming, submit to a search without warrant, and not possess any weapons or firearms.
A second charge was stayed, and the judge waived a victim fine and surcharge due to financial hardship.
This is Johnson’s fourth assault.
According to the Crown, he has a criminal record going back 11 years, including three prior assaults, one of them resulting in an eight-month sentence in 2023.
Earlier this year, Johnson was also given a six-month suspended sentence with a curfew relating to breaching an order to abstain from drugs and alcohol.
