Murray Wood: Tent cities in public spaces are not OK

Saskatoon drivers will have to heed road closures and lane restrictions along some common routes beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The annual Nutrien Fireworks Festival will keep parts of Spadina Crescent and Saskatoon’s Traffic Bridge closed until Sun, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.

According to a release from the City of Saskatoon, detour signs will be in place to help guide motorists.
Due to staging, Spadina Crescent will be closed from 7 p.m. on Sept. 3 through 10 a.m. on Sept. 6 between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Ave.
From 9 a.m. on Sept. 4 through 10 a.m. on Sept. 6, closures will be in place for the Traffic Bridge between 11th and 19th streets, 2nd Avenue between Saunders Place and Spadina Crescent, and 3rd Avenue between 19th Street and the Traffic Bridge.
“Drivers are reminded to drive carefully and watch for participants,” the City said, thanking people for their patience.
The Nutrien Fireworks Festival is happening in Saskatoon’s River Landing area on Sept. 4 and 5, featuring food, live entertainment and nightly fireworks displays each night, beginning at 9:30 p.m.
