Free public skating sessions are now running at Regina’s city-run rinks.
According to the City of Regina, its indoor rinks are open for free public skating between October and March, with some outdoor rinks and shinny sites also available during the winter months, depending on the weather conditions.

“This winter season, all public skates are free. We welcome skaters and soon-to-be skaters to our indoor rinks,” Diana Burton, Regina’s director of recreation and cultural services, said in a statement.
“Based on resident feedback, the city has expanded low-sensory skate sessions and introduced stick and puck sessions.”
Those low-sensory sessions feature reduced lighting in the arenas, no music over the PA system and a lower attendance capacity, the city said.
The stick-and-puck sessions allow skaters to practice their hockey or ringette skills “in a non-competitive environment, without formal instruction, scrimmages or slapshots.”
The hours and schedules for the city’s rinks can be found on the City of Regina’s website.
