Two men are facing fraud charges after allegedly misappropriating funds that were intended for the Onion Lake Cree Nation.
According to the RCMP, officers began an investigation on March 12, and officers determined that two men allegedly requested and received payments from landowners on the Cree nation north of Lloydminster “in an unlawful manner” over a four-year period.

The RCMP said two Onion Lake men, 67 and 54, are each facing a charge of fraud over $5,000. The Mounties did not say how much money was allegedly misappropriated.
Both men are set to appear in court in Onion Lake next month.
