Fall street sweeping begins on Thursday in the Queen City.
The City of Regina said it will focus its efforts on neighbourhoods with mature tree cover, including Cathedral, the Crescents, the General Hospital neighbourhood, Lakeview and North Central. Sweeping will take place between 4 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with the work expected to wrap up on Oct. 28, as long as the weather co-operates.

“Residents are encouraged to watch for posted signs and move vehicles off the street on scheduled sweep days,” the City of Regina said in a statement.
“Parking off-street and sharing driveway space with neighbours where possible helps crews clean the curb more effectively.”
Vehicles left on the street during the day when street sweeping is scheduled may be ticketed or towed, the city noted, adding that workers will not return to an area if they need to go around vehicles.
The city encouraged residents to download its free Sweep and Plow app to get reminders about when street sweeping will happen in their neighbourhoods. Phone and email notifications can also be set up through the city’s website.
“Street sweeping may create temporary dusty conditions and reduced visibility,” the city noted. “Residents are encouraged to keep windows closed during sweeping operations and use alternate sidewalks when possible.”
Drivers were advised to slow down around the street sweepers to give them space to work safely.
