The Saskatchewan RCMP is warning the public to be cautious of an email scam circulating in the province.
According to the Mounties, the scammer emails the potential victim, says they are the subject of “a cybercrime investigation,” and threatens them with arrest unless they contact the investigators “through the email carcmpgrca@gmail.com.”

The email is a scam, police said, advising the public not to email the scammers back. The RCMP also advised the public not to click any links in suspicious emails, not to send any personal information and not to send any money or gift cards.
“If you are unsure of the legitimacy of an email that appears to be from the RCMP or believe you are the victim of a fraud, please contact your local RCMP detachment at 310-RCMP,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“If you receive an email that you believe to be a scam or fraudulent, you can report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.”
