According to a Rawlco statement, the award recognizes businesses whose donations, sponsorships and volunteerism make a difference in Saskatoon by creating opportunities for growth and success.
The company has raised more than $27 million for charities and community causes through fundraising, special broadcasts, in-kind support and sponsorships.
The award was accepted by Rawlco Radio past president Pam Leyland and Rock 102 morning show host Sheri Ebert.
“Saskatchewan is at the heart of who we are. We’re proud to use the power of local radio to make a difference when our communities need it most,” Leyland said.
Rawlco’s initiatives include the C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research, which has raised more than $7.4 million for local breast cancer research projects; Rock 102 Stuff the Bus in support of the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre; and Rawlco Radio Saskatchewan Days of Caring, which have collectively raised more than $5 million to address urgent community needs, according to the release.
“While the numbers are significant, what stands out most is the way these initiatives bring people together,” Leyland said.
“Our teams dedicate countless hours to sharing the stories behind these causes and inspiring our listeners and communities to get involved. We’re incredibly grateful to our employees, listeners, clients and community partners whose generosity and commitment make these initiatives possible and help make Saskatchewan stronger.”
Rawlco Radio is the parent company of 650 CKOM and 980 CJME.
