The hallways of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building will be full and noisy again on Tuesday as MLAs and their staff return for the fall sitting.
The new legislative session will open with the speech from the throne, laying out the government’s priorities for the session.

The focus Premier Scott Moe outlined ahead of Tuesday is similar to what was described in the 2025 throne speech. He said there will also be discussion about the strong and steady leadership his government is trying to put forward, and he echoed the new advertising campaign from his government in talking about certainty.
“Those are the priorities of Saskatchewan families that our MLAs have been talking to: health care, education, community safety and affordability of our daily lives. And we are investing in that, and we’ll continue to invest in those priorities through the strength of the Saskatchewan economy,” explained Moe.
“In a very uncertain world, we have a province here that is providing a lot more certainty than anywhere else across Canada, I dare say, and many other places around the world.”
The government is expected to introduce changes this fall to The Traffic Safety Act to decriminalize simple drunk driving, making it a ticketable offence.
Justice Minister Tim McLeod announced the move back in June.
“Administrative penalties are serious. They apply immediately. They are designed to change behaviour, to reduce repeat offending and to prevent impaired drivers from putting more lives at risk,” he said.
The ticket would include a fine, a licence suspension and demerit points, a vehicle impoundment, mandatory safety training and an interlock system when they can drive again.
The Opposition Saskatchewan NDP will have a similar focus this fall. Leader Carla Beck said her party will be on top of the cost of living and health-care issues.
“We’ve been waiting for this for some time, but more importantly, the people of this province have been waiting for some accountability from this government, and we’re going to certainly do our best to ask the questions that are needed and hold this government to account,” said Beck.
Lieutenant Governor Bernadette McIntyre is expected to begin the speech around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
