“Officers were unable to locate the driver and third passenger. With the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team, they were located on November 2 and declared deceased by EMS at the scene.”
Police said the deceased driver and passenger were identified as a 74-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman from the Elfros area. Their families have been notified, the RCMP added.
The crash is being investigated with assistance from a police collision reconstruction expert, the Mounties added.
The RCMP said that as of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, there have been 80 fatal collisions on roadways under the federal police force’s jurisdiction in Saskatchewan this year, resulting in 96 deaths.
