Some more recent losses were also on many minds during the ceremony, including the soldiers who died and those who were injured in a grass fire at the Canadian Forces base in Wainwright, Alta. on Oct. 17. The funeral for Pte. Shaun Farrell was being held at the same time.
“Our hearts go out to all those families, and especially to those 17 kids that are still fighting some very serious burns and injuries and laying in hospital. We’re thinking about them a lot,” said Walker.
Services will be held around the province Nov. 11.
