RICHMOND — The remains of a soldier killed in the grass fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta last month are set to return to British Columbia today.
RCMP say Pte. Aidan Goulding’s remains will arrive at Vancouver’s airport at around 1 p.m., before a motorcade carries them to a funeral home in New Westminster.
Police say first responders will pay their respects along Grant McConachie Way.
Twenty-three-year-old Goulding, from North Vancouver, was among four soldiers killed in the blaze that overwhelmed a live-fire training exercise at Wainwright on Oct. 17.
The other soldiers killed were: Pte. Hayden Lykkemark, 19, of Langley, B.C.; Sgt. Morgan Wong, 26, of Edmonton; and Pte. Shaun Farrell, 23, from Prince Albert, Sask.
Farrell’s funeral was held in his hometown today, attended by Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and members of Farrell’s unit.
