The City of Regina is promoting from within for the position of city manager.
City council voted Wednesday to confirm the appointment of Chad Jedlic, effective Jan. 7, 2027.
Jedlic is currently the city’s director of land, real estate, and economic development. Before joining the city in 2021, he was vice president of development with Forster Harvard Development Corp.

A city release highlights Jedlic’s work on complex development initiatives and collaboration across multiple sectors including the private sector, municipal councils, and community leaders.
The job was previously held by Niki Anderson, who went on leave in April 2025. Her employment was terminated by council three months later.
City clerk Jim Nicol has been serving as acting city manager in the interim. Council thanked Nicol for his leadership during that time.
A biography provided by the city says Jedlic has a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree.
“I’m excited,” Jedlic told reporters. “It’s a fantastic opportunity but will also be a challenging opportunity. But it’s one I’m humbled to accept.”
Jedlic said he believes his role is to implement the strategic plan set by city council.
“That’s the thing that they have all agreed upon. Doing that in the most efficient way would be success for me,” he said. He also explained that a major priority will be maintaining trust between the administration and council.
“From my time in the private industry or while being at the city, things work well when there is a high level of trust between council and the administration,” he explained.
Mayor Chad Bachynski said the process was robust and included a national search. He said Jedlic brings many things to the table.
“He has a calm, logical approach,” Bachynski said. “He has a great balance of experience from both private industry and public service. His thoughtful approach, his calm demeanour — really, one of the things we were looking for is stability.”
He said his expectation is for healthy communication.
“(That) we have strong reporting, we have facts that are coming to the table for council considerations, and we’re debating the facts,” he said.
Bachynski said there was a high level of interest in the position, though he wouldn’t be specific about the number of candidates.
Council approved a five-year contract for Jedlic, with an annual salary of $300,000.
His record of service to the community includes the Regina and Region Home Builders’ Association, the Regina Rowing Club, and the Cathedral Village Arts Festival.
