Democrat Adam Hamilton won election Tuesday to the U.S. Senate representing Kansas, defeating Republican incumbent Roger Marshall. Hamilton’s victory gives Democrats an unexpected boost in their bid to flip U.S. Senate control. A first-time candidate, Hamilton is a prominent United Methodist pastor and author who has pledged to bridge partisan divides. He gained a national following among mainline Protestants while building his Church of the Resurrection in the Kansas City area over the past 35 years. Marshall was seeking a second term after winning in 2020. The Associated Press declared Hamilton the winner at 11:24 p.m. EST.
