Farrell was remembered as a close friend, a great soldier and a loving son during the hour-long funeral.
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe also spoke, saying Farrell was taken too soon and that the entire province is grieving.
Members of Farrell’s unit were encouraged to place their Remembrance Day poppies on his photo as they left the service.
The other soldiers killed in the fire were: Pte. Aidan Goulding, 23, of North Vancouver; Pte. Hayden Lykkemark, 19, of Langley, B.C.; and Sgt. Morgan Wong, 26, of Edmonton.
