There are some notable items missing from the sale underway for Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) assets.
While buses, trailers and other equipment are listed in the tender process, the bus depots in the major centres are not.
That’s because the facilities are needed until Sept. 29, 2017, when the Greyhound contract ends.
“They are still determining the process for how they want to dispose of the facilities, whether it will be a similar process or something different to what we have now, we don’t have that finalized,” STC’s Candace Caswell confirmed. “The details haven’t been worked out yet.”
It isn’t yet clear where Greyhound will go after the contract ends.
So far, eight new passenger bus services have been approved to operate in the province, many of them in the Highway 11 corridor between Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
STC was shut down in the provincial budget as part of the government’s efforts to reduce the deficit.
The tender process for STC is underway until the beginning of October.
