One of Regina’s new joint-use schools is already moving.
The City of Regina had slated one of schools to be built in the Skywood area, a new development north of Lakeridge.
In November 2014, the city approved fast tracking the new school in order to be eligable for $6 million from the province to go towards finalizing the project.
Now, Mayor Michael Fougere says the developer is unable to meet the tight timeframe the province has set out for the construction of the school. On Monday night, city council voted to move the joint-use school to Rosewood Park in Coopertown, a new development west of Sherwood Estates.
Each of the joint-use buildings will house a catholic and public school, as well as 90 child-care spaces.
Regina’s other joint-use schools will be built in Greens on Gardiner and Harbour Landing.
The Regina Catholic School Division has previously released the names of their three schools: the school in Greens on Gardiner will be named St. Elizabeth, Harbour Landing’s school will be called St. Kateri Tekakwitha, and the Coopertown school will be known as St. Nicholas.
