Safeway is recalling cucumbers due to a risk of salmonella contamination.
The recall is for cucumbers sold in stores across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C. In addition to field cucumbers, the recall includes products like veggie trays, pre-made Greek salad and sushi sold before September 6.
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include nausea, diarrhea, fever and cramps.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency reports recall was triggered by a recall from a distributer in California and it may be linked to a salmonella outbreak in the U.S.
One person has died after being exposed to salmonella in the U.S. and there are cases of the illness reported in dozens of states.
So far Canada has not had any reported cases of illness linked to salmonella.
