Two cousins were sentenced Friday after a home invasion in Regina in May 2012.
Kyle Roger Noname and William Francis Noname broke into a home on Bauermeister Street where they assaulted a man and a woman. They later shot the man in the leg.
Both men were found guilty of break, enter and commit robbery and assault with a weapon.
William Noname was also convicted of attempted murder. He received eight years minus 19 months. He will spend six years, five months in jail starting Friday.
Kyle Noname was also found guilty of aggravated assault. He was sentenced to five years, six months minus 15 days.
Originally, the crown suggested a sentence of 10 to 12 years for William Noname and eight to 10 years for Kyle Noname. The defence wanted five years minus time served for William and 18 months to two years for Kyle.
Neither Noname had much of a criminal record until this incident. Kyle Noname had no prior criminal convictions.
