Once all the presents are opened and the decorations admired — what do you do with your natural Christmas tree?
The City of Regina is once again hosting its Treecycle depots so people have somewhere to take their tree, which is then turned into nutrient-rich compost.
The depots open 24 hours starting Wednesday until New Year’s Eve at several locations:
- 500 Arcola Avenue, between Victoria Avenue and Winnipeg Street
- Joanne Goulet Golf Course – 8045 Kestral Drive
- Kinsmen Park South – Kings Road and Lakeview Avenue
- City Landfill at 1101 Fleet Street (check open and close times; no fee if only bringing one tree)
All decorations should be removed from the tree, which must be taken out of the disposal bag, before being put in the bin.
Last year, 32 tonnes of natural Christmas trees collected at the depots were composted at a local facility.
