Boardwalk apartments helping house Syrian refugees in Sask.

Boardwalk Properties is doing its part to help out the Syrian refugees heading to Saskatchewan.
 
The apartment rental company — which has a presence in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan — will welcome 350 families to its properties in those four provinces.
 
David McIlveen with Boardwalk said 20 to 25 refugee families will have a place to stay at their apartments in Regina. The company will charge a reduced rate — which for the first year will be paid by the federal government. A similar number of families will stay in Saskatoon.
 
McIlveen said the majority of tenants are supportive of the idea but there has been some negative reaction as well.
 
Boardwalk will be coordinating their efforts with the Regina Open Door Society when refugees arrive in Saskatchewan.
